Community Mourns the Tragic Loss of Maggie Mills of Edmonton
Edmonton, Alberta — The community is grieving the unexpected passing of Maggie Mills, MS, CCP, CPC, a highly respected Cardiovascular Perfusionist at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. Maggie died in a tragic scuba diving accident on November 21st.
Maggie was widely admired for her dedication, expertise, and compassion within the cardiovascular care community. Before joining the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, she worked as a perfusionist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and at CHEO – Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, where she contributed to life-saving procedures for both adult and pediatric patients.
A committed scholar and professional, Maggie earned her Master of Cardiovascular Science (Cardiovascular Perfusion) from Midwestern University in Arizona, following her Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta. She was also known by the name Maggie Steed.
Family, friends, and colleagues will gather to honor her life and legacy at a Celebration of Life on December 6th at 1 p.m., to be held at the Broadmoor Golf Course. Attendees will have the opportunity to share memories and reflect on the impact Maggie made both personally and professionally. 
Maggie Mills leaves behind a profound legacy of service, compassion, and excellence within the medical community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
