Heavy Police Response After Report of Active Shooter at Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Indiana

Merrillville, Indiana — A massive law enforcement response was triggered Friday night after reports of shots fired at Southlake Mall, located at 2109 Southlake Mall in Merrillville. The incident prompted an immediate lockdown of the shopping center as officers worked to secure the area and guide shoppers to safety.

Authorities received a call reporting an active shooter inside the mall, leading to a rapid and coordinated response. More than two dozen officers arrived at the scene, supported by fire departments and multiple ambulances positioned nearby as a precaution.
